A Note from John and Holly
We love having our own local restaurant! John and I love to entertain and having Tomato Thyme is like having guest over everyday. Ok, we don’t have to do all the cooking or clean up everyday, so that makes a huge difference! Nevertheless, we feel so fortunate to have a place you can meet, greet, and eat!
It is always a compliment to us when people say that Tomato Thyme reminds them of “Cheers” where everyone knows your name.
For us, you feel like family. Like all families, you want to stay in touch…so welcome to our first newsletter. Yes, it was one of the many ideas we have that we finally got around to creating, so we hope you like it!
Read away and find tasty new specials, scrumptious seasonal items, simple entertaining ideas, Tomato Thyme thoughts on life, food, and living the good life. To say thanks, you will find special offers, and of course the “how can we WOW you?” We want to know how we can make your experience better every time.
As Thanksgiving approaches, we are so grateful for all our customers who make Tomato Thyme their “second home.” We hope you enjoy our first issue of Meet, Greet, and Eat.
John and Holly
Please welcome our new chef, Jose Cisneros! Chef Jose comes to us from San Francisco. He loves the fast pace of Tomato Thyme’s kitchen. Actually, the stress just makes him smile more – it is just marvelous! He is eager to whip up scrumptious, mouthwatering dishes for all of us. Welcome Jose! We are delighted to have you and your amazing attitude on our team.
Football, hockey, basketball, baseball…We have got the game on! Panic struck the hearts of our SJ Sharks Fans! Some crazy network switch-a-roo happened, yet do not fear…we were able to add the new channel so the Sharks are on again. Yea!!!! Beer is cold and food is hot, so come on down!
Love it for Lunch
We love bringing on the flavors for lunch. Who says you have to wait until dinner? We have some NEW items for you to try! Our Chopped Salad is bursting with mouth-watering Italian flavors and the Turkey, Avocado Club Sandwich with caramelized onions is sure to please. For the meat lover, try the hearty Roasted Beef Sandwich with our zesty homemade horseradish. It will keep you coming back for more. Figs on Pizza? Oh yes! This lil’ gourmet pizza was inspired by Holly’s trip to Napa . It has sweet, fresh figs, peppery arugula and salty prosciutto on our homemade sourdough crust. Hurry! We only use fresh figs, so when the fresh figs are gone -- so is the pizza.
What's New - Seasonal Specials
As we greet November, Fall seems to be alive in Willow Glen. The leaves subtle change to vibrant colors is a gentle reminder to turn our clocks back, nourish our bodies, and really welcome all that Fall has to offer. This month, we introduce an abundance of savory delights, like comforting Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage Cream. Try the Grilled Pork Chop with a Cranberry-Zinfandel reduction…. It sounds good just writing about it! How about the Lamb or Veal Osso Bucco? Slow roasted for hours, so tender, it just falls off the bone! Add to the fall palate, pleasing delights from nature such as pomegranates, squash, winter greens, brussel sprouts, fresh figs, nuts, persimmons, pears, pumpkins and apples…Oh my!
We only want the best for you! Just in case you didn’t know, at the start of each day, we bake our own crusty and golden bread, and make our own hand-tossed pizza dough that gets topped with Grande Cheese – the best of the best! Organic Tomatoes from our backyard, desserts from local Willow Glen restaurants, and bountiful wines from your favorite local wine makers make our restaurant inspired by community.
Getting together for dinner or just a drink is a fun way to stay in touch and connect with one another. Greet your favorite friend, family, loved ones, or co-workers at Tomato Thyme! Try the Talty Zinfandel. This juicy zin is from a local San Jose boy that followed his dream of becoming a winemaker. The Wall Street Journal said, “remember the name of this Sonoma Winery; you’ll be hearing it.” . We’ve got new cocktails too! Try a Pomegranate Martini – it’s a seasonal special cocktail that’s made with fresh pomegranates! Hello tastebuds!

Tomato Thyme Holiday Entertaining Tips
Hi, it’s me, Holly. One of my favorite entertaining tricks is …Soup. Yep, you read that right – Soup. Especially this time of year. Really, it is a fabulous one pot meal you make ahead of time and it stays nice ‘n hot on the stove or in a crock pot. Compliment it with fresh, artisan bread, delicious appetizers, a nice bottle of wine, and voila! You will finally have enough time to enjoy the party and the guest.
For the Appetizers and decor I’ll have the restaurant make up a gorgeous antipasto with an array of luscious cheeses, candied spiced walnuts, fresh grilled figs wrapped in prosciutto drizzled in a balsamic reduction. I like things simple (not messy), so when it comes to flowers I will buy masses of one type of flower and put them in pretty vases. I like the elegant, dramatic statement one type of flower makes. Be sure to take off all the leaves that will be submerged in water and always trim with clippers (not scissors). .If your short on time, call a local florist tell them your style, the colors you want and they will do it for you. More time for smiles and laughs! I am all about that – aren’t you?!!!
Because of you, we are truly blessed. We are so grateful to our loyal customers and our wonderful staff. It has been a remarkable 6 ½ years. We have grown from our past experience as “pizza operators” into the full service establishment we are today. And you, our dear guests, have been with us every step of the way, even with the occasional bump in the road.
We thank you for allowing us the opportunity to feed and nourish you and remain in your hearts. You are forever in ours!
Thank you for being in our lives.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Tomato Thyme Family.
